SBY's mission is to improve the lives of runaway, homeless, abused and neglected and at-risk youth and their families in the Washington area. We achieve this by providing shelter, counseling, life skills training, and psotive youth development activities to approximately 1,500 youth and 5,000 family members annually. SBY seeks to support and empower competency-based: our counselors are trained not to diagnose pathologies, but to identify and build on the strengths of each young person and/or family.

Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena is a non-profit organization that manages the Fort Dupont Ice Arena in Southeast Washington DC. The arena is the only public indoor ice rink in the City of Washington and the only skating arena in the Washington Metropolitan area serving a mostly low-income African American community. Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena provides the Kids On Ice free community skating program, serving over 10,000 girls annually.
